SEO or search engine optimization is one of the most commonly used methods to increase the volume and the quality of the traffic to a website. Using relevant content, internal linking, and incoming links from outside the website, potentially any search engine can index a website for terms your company finds important so your website will appear in the natural search results of a search engine results page (SERP) and thus, is an important weapon for Internet marketing.
There are many criteria search engines use to rank websites, and not all search engines put the same weight on each criteria. Generally, the earlier the website’s domain has been active, the more likely that the page rank will be higher. Also, text links within the website using the keyword phrases you find important are also good tools to use. SEO can work in a number of different ways besides just showing up in search engine results. It can also be used to guide the writing and placement of your content, as search engines that find your content useful from their point of view has a better chance of being useful from the visitor’s point of view.
SEO can also stand for search engine optimizers, which refers to the people who work as consultants to perform search engine optimization. Search engine optimizers can work as a sole service provider as well as a part of a whole marketing team. SEO techniques can be a part of the designing and development of the website as sometimes, it may require some changes in the HTML codes of the website. Some of the basic components of SEO are web designs, menus, content management systems and shopping carts, because these can be optimized easily.
Top ranking of a website in more than one search engines does not mean more sales for the websites. The technique only works in conjunction with clearly defined goals for what visitors will do when they come to the site. In other words, your website must have a clear call to action. Therefore, a business that is mainly depended on search engine traffic can suffer a lot if there is not an accompanying website designed to engage the visitors upon arrival. As a part of Internet marketing strategy, SEO increases a site’s traffic so your message gets out there. Your job is to also makes sure you have a clear message when the visitors find you.

Choosing keywords is one of the most important tasks when it comes to SEO; it falls only behind link building on a scale of importance.
You need to think very carefully about what keyword phrases and word choices people would use when looking to buy your product or service.
Knowing what keywords people are using for searches is fundamental to your sites success.
Firstly, you need to construct a big list of words that relates in anyway to your product or service, these keywords or phrases need to cover every aspect of your business or products that are related to your business.
I would also suggest choosing keywords that are also related to your keyword phrases.
Therefore, one step away from being directly related to your business, this will help catch a bit more traffic.
Put yourself in your customers shoes - What search phrases would you type in if you were looking for your service.
Think about your business as an outside that knows nothing about your business or industry.
The next step is to judge how valuable and competitive the search terms are. The higher the numbers the harder is going to be to rank for a particular search phrase.
You can do this with a variety of tools free and paid for. They include: Wordtracker, Keyword Discovery Google Adwords and the Overture tool. I would suggest using the overture tool and choosing phrases that have between 3000 - 10000 searches per month, any more searches and it’s going to take a long time to rank and any less and you won’t get enough traffic.
Now narrow down your list to about 70 keyword phrases and scatter them across your websites content. Choose three or four of the most competitive keyword phrases and have them on your home page copy. Repeat your Top Three” keyword phrases at least ten times on your home page.

If I had a dollar for every time someone asked me So how do you do Search Engine Optimization”, I’m sure I would have been able to buy a house with the proceeds by now.
The short answer is that there is not a magic formula to Search Engine Optimization (SEO), you can’t just change a few things and the website will appear on the first page of the results for a competitive search phrase.
When my clients ask what SEO actually is, I tell them that it is positioning a website in the top results on the search engines. This is done by on-page optimization and off-page optimization.
There are key elements when it comes to doing SEO and all must be met or your website is doomed from the start.
1) Have your keywords in your title tags
2) Make sure your website copy has your keywords in it
3) Have backlinks pointing back to your site
4) Have your Keywords in the backlinks.
To explain what I mean in point four: All websites should have backlinks pointing back to themselves. In addition, they need to have their keywords included in the backlinks - This is called anchor text.
Having anchor text in your backlinks is vitally important, and will help your website rank much, much faster.
Aged domains also play a big part in a websites success, this means that search engines favour older domains - usually over twelve months old.
If you own a website that is at least a year old it would be far more beneficial to use that particular site rather than registering and creating a new site.
Also having your keywords in your domain name is of great benefit when it comes to SEO. It is estimated that a website with its particular keywords in it will rank ten times faster than websites that don’t.
Including your keywords in your sub pages also helps a lot.

In this article I am going to cover steps 3 and 4 of an internet marketing technique.
Step three of an internet marketing technique is connected with what happens after somebody clicks for something, whatever it is that you are offering in exchange for the click. You have to be able to follow up on your lead or fulfill the order and take payment. Otherwise what is the point? This should be made an easy procedure for the visitor otherwise they may just click away. If you make a purchase difficult to make by forcing them to read this extra offer, and that bonus of what else they can buy, after they have decided to buy, you might lose the sale.
Make all your offers for your internet marketing technique before they reach the point where they make the decision, not after it. Once they have decided to take the action your email was designed to persuade them to make, don’t distract them! Get the payment, and then make more offers. Unnecessary distraction at the point of sale can lose that sale, so keep it simple.
Finally, step four of an internet marketing technique is to make the emailing using an email provider that you can trust to do it properly. Most autoresponders systems are good at this, and also thank the customer for making the purchase. It should also provide your recipient with a means of unsubscribing from your list, or, even better, the choice of unsubscribing or changing their email details. There should be a record of who opened and who did not open your emails, and that will enable you to test different subject lines to improve your email opening rate.
If you follow these four simple steps to internet marketing techniques to make money with bulk email marketing, your business should be very profitable in a short period of time. All it takes is an email list and a little bit of sales know how and a modicum of common sense.

Never has it been easier for geeks to be cool.
Well it may not be easy, per se, but geeks get a chance to move to the #1 spot on Google for the search term “the coolest guy on the planet”.
There are literally hundreds of online entrepreneurs, hackers, geeks, promoters and both guys and girls alike going for the holy grail position of the coolest status on the planet.
So what does the “Ultimate SEO (a.k.a. Search Engine Optimization) Experiment” have to do with being cool?
Theoretically the person or optimizer who has the “baddest” optimization skills will win. The prize is a nice, big ego boost, nothing more. Of course if you are a search engine optimizer in the running it could never hurt for a little traffic, business and credibility.
So who should try out?
The No 1 spot has been taken and lost so many times it’s really anyones game. But anyone who does want to give it a shot should consider a fill a few prerequisites.
1. have time to consistently spend on moving your site up (hey, what’s the point of doing something if you aren’t going to give it 100%, right?)
2. have at least a basic understanding of SEO
3. be ready for some media attention if and when you do reach your goal of being the coolest guy on the planet
Besides that being the coolest guy on the planet is pretty easy…just do the math.

SEO is a wonderful idea for anyone with a website in need of additional traffic or if you have a web site that is generating absolutely zero traffic. The bad part about Search Engine Optimization is that it covers a vast variety of marketing techniques and strategies. The good part about SEO is that the Internet offers an immeasurable amount of no cost ideas that have been split tested an can get your online business organized for search engine indexing.
SEO Marketing companies do not have a magic wand or access to information that you are not worthy of. Online marketing firms offer specialist services from someone who makes it their job to look at an overall website; which includes but is not limited to:
> Domain name,
> site content,
> keywords,
> site link structure,
> site theme,
> current page rank
> valued offers
> opt-in email
> webpage organization
> user navigation
> pay per click campaigns
> Social media optimization
> Quality backlinks
> RSS feeds
> Sitemap
I suggest you read further but, if all or much of this is far too time consuming for you I suggest you hire someone to perform the tasks.
SEO marketing services come in all shapes and sizes. Some online optimization websites take the tutor approach by training members on the basics of organic internet marketing. Regular updates to your website content (updating your RSS feeds and Sitemaps) are important to organic growth.Organic (or natural) website growth does not include tricks and tactics that would get a website banned from most search engine indexes.
Organize your website: Search engine software can help users find information on your website by typing in a keyword (yes, just like Google, Yahoo and MSN). Question: what if a visitor to your News website performed a search on Cat Tail Dogs and the search returned Fish Mouth Birds? Not good huh? This is why the way your pages link to other relevant pages on your website is important.
Your domain name is a no brainer; if you have a site dedicated to Money Making Businesses you need a domain name that when spoken or written will show what your site is about. Stay consistant with your theme; a “Cat tail Dog” website should stick to that theme unless your site is an authority on the Cat and Dog species then you would cover a broader spectrum (which is fine but be aware that there is more competition in broader markets).
Social media optimization or social marketing is how some are making big numbers at the bank with their advertising websites. Not only do Sites like MySpace make millions in advertising income, some of the members of MySpace are also making millions by finding targeted traffic to market their products too while simultaneously creating backlinks and a social environment. I’m sure you realize that people who have similar hobbies and interests have a lot to talk about?
Offering something of value can not only attract visitors to your website, it can also start a buzz about your website in social networks. Valued offers have come a long way, you can still generate some traffic with ebooks but the big dogs of marketing are going to audio and video tutorials which has spoiled the online community and is slowly but surely causing everyone else to “step their game up”.
Optimization for quality backlinks can be simple once your website has professional page organization and tone, relevant content and link structure. Most firms will simply find a high ranking website in your Niche, put a like to their site on your home page, send them an email which states: I have placed a link to your website here “the link URL” would you do me the honor of doing the same on your website?”
That’s it; you don’t have to use a bunch of big words and fancy explanations; your site should speak for its self.
In your quest for high or better search engine ranking do not be driven to the “get high page rank quick” scams. Organic website growth has been tested and proven to outlast any of the spam devices on the market such as mini auto generated sites with information of no real use.
Fortunately, search engine algorithms have become smarter by looking for synonymic terms along with keyword phrases to determine the content to search relativity.
This simply means that low value sites will get pushed down in the SERPS and those of value using ethical SEO tactics will gradually rise to the top.
To survive in the online business community your goal must be to create sites that first gives its visitor something they can use which is not limited to “Information of Value!”. …and you have to keep giving it to them on a regular basis.
Your information may not be of value to everyone, hopefully you’ll have a forum for where they can voice their opinion. Visitor response can be used as an opportunity to find out what additional information or products your market needs.
